Do you think your Webcam is secure??
Most of us have in-built cameras on our phones, tablet, laptop, desktop or use webcam for work, study, or virtual socializing. Unfortunately, this privilege can leave us vulnerable to an online attack known as camfecting. This is when hackers take control of your webcam remotely.
On browsing, you will find certain hacked wireless home security cameras list. They fail to support SSL/TLS encryption, which makes IP cameras and video surveillance footage vulnerable to hackers. And users' lack of awareness of security in cameras and the router also lead to WiFi cam hack issues
Whenever you are browsing on the internet, your browser takes access to your Webcam. Now, why does the browser take your webcam access? We can't say that every website is secured and unsecured.
Anyone can hack your webcam if they know the commands and programming. Hackers can take selfies from your webcam without letting you know. In normal cases, when we open our webcam we can see a light near the webcam it means your webcam is on. But when your webcam gets hacked then you won't see any light near the webcam. Hackers disable your webcam light because if you get to see light near the webcam then you will immediately cover your webcam.
That's why hackers disable the light when they hack your webcam. They can even record videos of yours anytime they wish. They can capture your images whenever they wish or when you are entering a password somewhere. Hackers can record your video while you are entering your password or PIN for your accounts.
You can see this picture when I login into my Gmail account trying to access my webcam. In this way, you will get warnings when some website is trying to access your webcam. If you have antivirus in your system then you will get this alert but sometimes some malware or Trojan horse won't be detected by antivirus then our entire webcam gets hacked. They can even record a video or take a snapshot of you from your webcam.
Did you ever think of where the pics of a girl get uploaded on the Internet or Porn sites or Dating apps? That is when your webcam gets hacked by the hackers they capture the picture when they are changing their clothes in their rooms.
NOTE: Never never change your clothes in front of your phone, computer or laptop. Don't keep your devices beside us because we don't know when our webcam gets compromised by just one click. Keep your phone in your pocket or upside down, cover the cameras or web cams of computers and laptops before changing clothes or having a private time.
Whenever you are surfing the internet some sites access the webcam without your knowledge. Even if your webcam got compromised by the attackers then it can record your video then will capture your pics and they will blackmail you when they need money by sending your pics to you only.
Don't answer any video call from an unknown person even if anyone calls you through Skype, WhatsApp, Instagram, Google meet, etc......... Please don't do any adult talks or private work because fraudsters are using girls to make a video call to boys and when they do private calls, they record your entire video and will send you to blackmail and they will ask for the money to pay otherwise they will upload it to porn sites.
Online dating is the biggest fraud so many are becoming the victims of this fraud. We can see so many dating apps on google play store or google chrome. In a normal video call if we do a video call then others will lift the call whether he/she will lift the call.
But if it comes to online dating when a boy does a video call then girl will lift the call but she is not a real one there are few softwares where they will record the video previously and they will play the video while he calls to her and that person thinks that she is a real girl and he will do all adult content in front of the webcam when he is doing this things.
The software will record the entire video whatever he is doing and after the video call the frauder will send the video to him and he will blackmail. Like if you don't give money he will say that he will upload this video in social media and in the porn sites same thing goes with girls also.
Moreover wont open any kind of links which you get in your whatsapp or anywhere else. Because there are some tools from which the hackers will take the selfie of you and they will post in social media or in other sites like dating sites etc......
With those tools the hacker will generate the link and will send it to the victim. When the victim clicks on that link then automatically the selfie camera will capture the picture of you and it will send it to the hacker. Until he stops, your camera will capture your selfie. by using those pics he will post on dating sites and other sites where he can attract other people by posting your pics in those apps.
By using this grabcam tool we can take a selfie of the victim without his knowledge. There are so many softwares and tools by which we can capture a snapshot from the victims device. There are so many advanced tools like Grabcam.
Cover your webcam whenever you don't need it, just paste a small tape on your webcam. when you cover your webcam then no one can see you and no one can capture or record your video. because we can't say that we are safe while we are connected to the internet. Remember one thing when you are connected to the internet then you have to fix that your webcam and you are not yet all safe.
We can't say that no one is watching us while we are connected to the internet. If you have an Anti-virus in your laptop or in your system. when you are surfing anything in google you get an alert that google is trying to get access to your account like Gmail and Youtube while you are using gmail and Youtube it will ask your permission.
Not only google other sites also get access to your webcam when you are connected to the internet without any security measures. If you don't have Antivirus then you wouldn't get that alert without that alert only the websites will get access to your webcam.
If you have any antivirus which is a paid one, not a trial once then you will get the alerts whenever you are connected to the internet. When some exploits try to enter into your system then the antivirus will stop those exploits from entering into your device.
I’m not saying that Anti-Virus will stop you but it will alert you when any website is trying to access your webcam. Sometimes no antivirus will alert you while it is accessing the webcam because some malware or virus can't be detectable to the antiviruses also.
Even Mark Zuckerberg also hides his Webcam with a small tape then why we should not do that. Our privacy is our security and for that we have to do something. So many people have faced these problems like the hackers blackmailed so many girls in foreign countries, if you don't know about these problems then you can watch the Sextortion case which happened in the USA with one girl who did suicide in her home.
Because of this Webcam hacking, some other person got into her webcam, recorded the videos, captured the pics of that girl and he started to blackmail. When she didn't listen to him, he uploaded her videos and pics on social media and on other sites…
Sextortion can be done by camfecting, the only example some of them can take is that they can take their nude video in front of the cam. We dono that the cam is hacked then the hacker will record the video and he will post it in the sites. In this way some girls' videos are available on porn sites. So many girls were accuesed in this sextorton case. One of the most famous sextortion cases is The Sextortion of Amanda Todd - the fifth don't forget to watch this video. Then you get to know how hackers record videos and capture our picture and how they do blackmail.
Precautions :
Cover your webcam with sticky tape. Whenever you connect your laptop or computer to the internet.
Don't lift the unknown person's video calls from Skype, Instagram and whatsapp.
Cover your webcam whenever you are doing any personal things.
Download Access dots this will inform you that if any app is accessing your webcam and your voice too. Then you can close that app .
Use antivirus in your laptop to alert you while any website is trying to access your webcam. I'm not saying that antivirus will protect you, I'm saying that it gives an alert that's it.
